Twitter EOTO Project

Image
So let’s talk about Twitter and how it came to be. Twitter was a product of a failed start-up named Odeo. Odeo was Noah Glass’ product where you call a phone number and it would turn your message into an MP3 hosted on the Internet. By 2005 Odeo was born however Apple had another thing in mind. Around that same time was when Apple introduced Itunes. So sadly the Odeo project was a fail but luckily for us we got Twitter out of it. Now Evan Williams needed a new product since the start up was a fail. That’s when Jack Dorsey, an Odeo employee came up with the idea of people sending messages to update their status AKA tell us what they are doing at the moment.  Now in the one of the articles I read said that Noah Glass was very passionate about this project and actually came up with the name Twttr (kinda like Flickr). When this idea was proposed to Evan it said that he also was skeptical about it. But he took a chance and Now Twitter is what we all know and love today. By March of 2006 the

Speech Theories Blog Post

I think the speech theory that is really important is number 6: Promote Tolerance. This theory basically states that you can say anything you want but you can not escape the consequences of the things you say. For example when people nowadays are getting “canceled” for some very justified reasons. I think it’s important because as a black woman at a PWI it’s good to think about. I know I have been put into situations where some consequences haven’t been sufficient enough for me and some people would agree. One of the most memorable moments was when I went to school with this individual who was racist, and homophobic yet she identified as a gay latina but was white passing. Anyways she irritated me for 2 years freely expressing her views and even saying things like it doesn’t matter the impact of what she says because she can say whatever she wants. There was even a time she kept provoking me in class and I told her to leave me alone. Then when I used my words to make her eventually le

Supreme Court Reflection

I think the video on the supreme court really gave me an insight on the process. One of the things that I really took into perspective is when they said that they make decisions in quiet chambers. It made me think that yes that is true but the power/impact the supreme court has is way “louder”. I think in a position like that it’s hard for people to separate the decisions they make from the person. I sometimes catch myself doing the same thing and in the video they talked about it. They mentioned trying to reach the same objective and respecting each other’s good faith in trying to achieve that objective and in addition to that they shake hands. I also remember when Ruth Bader Ginsburg talked about how when she presented her first argument, she was nervous until she realized the power she had in that moment. She said that it felt good because they had to listen to her for the next 30 mins.  Another thing that intrigued me was the number of cases they get. Going from 7,000 cases to only

My Top 5 News Outlets

Image
Nowadays news has become very modernized and more importantly digitized. Thus making being informed and staying up to date with current events easier. With that I also think media outlets are also using their platforms to distract people from current events so we can have this thought that we live in this utopia and nothing bad ever happens around us. Now personally my top 5 new outlets are more Hollywood media based since just like most people nowadays I just love seeing a problematic celebrity finally get what’s coming to them.  Instagram: Now I use  instagram to connect with my loved ones, keep up with the drama, and I check on things going on back home. I live in Philadelphia and not every missing person, shooting, etc is going to be reported on the news. So there’s this instagram account that does that. They also take in tips and try to help others find their missing children. I remember about a year ago I was scrolling on Instagram and I saw a girl that I knew from high school
